National Conference at St. Xavier's University, Kolkata - (December 19-20, 2019)
Digital technology has had a profound influence on value creation allowing businesses to create and deliver value to individual needs (B2I, i.e., Business to Individual). The technology has made information search, analysis and sharing easier and nearly costless. In addition, it has been argued that technology has created "winner takes it all" conditions in many markets.
Businesses are therefore getting organised around platforms, e.g., social interaction on Facebook, search around Google, entertainment around Netflix, shopping around Amazon and so on. Some of these platforms are participating in extended value-chains to become producers, e.g., Netflix and Amazon are investing large sums in content development. Also, consumer information has been leveraged as the main source of revenue by firms like Google or Facebook.
In a world where digital technology is fast becoming an integral part of the value-chain, this conference intends to explore the concept of value in this digital age or/ and for the digital consumer.
