Brief Profile  

I am Dr. Alok Raj, an Associate Professor in the Production, Operations, and Decision Sciences Department at XLRI – Xavier School of Management in Jamshedpur, India. I completed my Ph.D. in Operations Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, in 2019 and hold a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from BIT Sindri.

Before transitioning into academia, I gathered over a decade of industry experience working with Ispat Industries (now part of JSW) and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. My research primarily focuses on sustainable supply chains, digital technology, and healthcare. In my work, I employ methodologies such as discrete choice experiments, game theory, meta-analysis, system dynamics, structural equation modeling, and field experiments. These approaches allow me to address complex challenges in my areas of focus with rigor and depth. 

I have published my work in a range of leading journals, including the European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of Cleaner Production, International Journal of Production Economics, Journal of Business Research, Computers & Industrial Engineering, Transportation Research Part E: Logistics and Transportation Review, Transportation Research Part A: Policy and Practice, Energy Economics, Annals of Operations Research, Journal of Computer Information Systems, Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, and Journal of Environmental Management.

Recently, I was honored with the Research Publication Excellence Award by N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, at XLRI`s 2024 convocation. Additionally, I served as Conference Chairman for the POMS India Chapter Conference in 2023, an event that brought together over 300 global representatives.

At XLRI, I teach courses on Operations Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and Prescriptive Analytics.
