Dear Readers,
It is a pleasure to share the January 2015 issue of
Magis
, XLRI's tri-annual newsmagazine.
In November we hosted
Alumni Homecoming
and felicitated 24 alumni who have distin-
guished themselves in various professional roles across sectors. It is heartening to note that
XLRI has over 12,000 alumni serving reputed organisations across six continents.
Encouraging Whole-Person Growth
At XLRI we strive towards
integral formation
whereby students are encouraged to nur-
ture their intellectual, emotional and social persona to evolve as well-rounded human be-
ings. Students are encouraged to set-up student societies with the intent to foster
whole-
person growth
. Ensemble — the annual management meet for B-schools, b-Utsav and
other events featured in this issue are the outcome of remarkable efforts put in by students.
Sensitising Social Conscience
Students at XLRI are encouraged to
develop empathy
for the underserved sections of the
society with a view to evolve as business leaders who appreciate inclusive and sustainable
growth. Daan Utsav, a festival of philanthropy, anchored by XLRI for Jamshedpur and
other initiatives like DISHA and KSHITIJ aimed at encouraging school children achieve
their full potential featured in this issue are examples of XL students contributing their
mite
to help meet the unmet needs of the society at large.
Fostering Thought Leadership
XLRI hosts numerous conferences, seminars, orations etc. on a regular basis to advance
thought-leadership
among internal and external stakeholders. The JRD Tata Oration de-
livered by D Shivakumar, CEO of Pepsico India, and the third international workshop on
Inclusive Finance featured in this issue are annual events that foster thought-leadership.
Shaping Responsible Leaders
We hope that the articles covered in this issue give you a glimpse of our consistent efforts
to help shape responsible business leaders of tomorrow.
