INSIGHT is the annual consulting conference organized by CRUX-XLRI. It is a platform where stalwarts from the corporate, government and the academia interact and discuss on a theme that is relevant to the industry and is based on the present socio-political scenario. The theme for INSIGHT-2012 is Success in Uncertain Times — The outlook of the corporate, government and the academia.

 

Success in Uncertain Times

2011-12 has been a testing time for most businesses. The overall growth rate has slowed down, corruption scandals threaten the stability of the government, the Rupee is getting battered by the Dollar, exports are decreasing and the most importantly the ‘trustworthy’ monsoon also let us down. In such times of economic upheaval what do businesses do? Do they try and reconcile with the situation and try to maintain a status quo, or do they have the bravado to venture into new territories and try to maximize their profits.

 

However amidst these turbulent times we see many success stories spring out as business leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators and policy makers take decisions that others could not. They have driven the business to levels that were not thought possible by others.  They are the ones who have taken the bull by its horns and brought stability and order in their business.

Such times also test the endurance of policy makers and academicians who have to balance the benefits given to the common man vis-à-vis the corporate. Every decision for them is a tradeoff that has to be carefully judged since it affects the daily lives of more than a billion people.

 

Through its annual consulting conference INSIGHT, XLRI salutes such mavericks. We hope to learn the thoughts behind their strategies, their leadership technique that inspired their workers and the roots of the confidence in their businesses.
