Introduction
Celebrating Excellence
commemorates over six decades of
dedicated service and commitment that have sustained the Jesuit mission for
XLRI. Established in 1949 by a few visionary Jesuit fathers, XLRI has had a
remarkable journey towards becoming an institution of excellence.
Over the years XLRI has inspired many men and women to join hands in
bringing about a tangible change in the world of business and the society at
large. This coffee table book takes a peek into the heroic leadership that has
steered the quest for change. It charts the course of evolution of XLRI from
being an institute offering only labour and union centered programmes to
becoming a business management school offering a portfolio of programmes
for varied student segments. The trails of accomplishments and ventures
inspired by the philosophy of
Magis
, the quest for doing ‘Greater Good’, have
been recounted in this book.
As we step into the 60th Annual Convocation two important aspects
remain unchanged. One is the passion for academic excellence. The other
is the consistent efforts of the board, faculty, staff and students riveted on
encompassing greater goals.
This coffee table book makes an earnest attempt at collating the landmark
achievements, the far-sighted endeavours and the noteworthy contributions of
generations of XLers through old pictures and chronicled narration.
