Dr. Kannan Srinivasan
is HJ Heinz II Professor of Management,
Marketing and Business Technology at Carnegie Mellon University.
He has also taught at the Graduate School of Business at The University of Chicago and Stanford University.
Prior to earning his PhD at the University of California at Los Angeles, Dr. Srinivasan worked as a product
manager at Procter & Gamble (India).
He is the Associate Editor of
Management Science
, the Area Editor of
Marketing Science
and the Area Editor of
Quantitative
Marketing and Economics
. His former doctoral students have served as professors at various business schools around the
world including Columbia, Duke, Yale, Michigan, Northwestern, Harvard, University of Chicago, IIM Ahmedabad and IIM
Lucknow.
Dr. Srinivasan has been nominated for the Leland Bach Teaching Award several times. His research work has been two
time runner-up for the John Little award. He has published one of the 10 most cited papers in
Marketing Science
and
most cited marketing papers in
Management Science
. He has worked on consulting projects and executive teaching
engagements with firms such as General Motors, Asea-Brown Boveri, Kodak, Chrysler, Fujitsu, IBM, Calgon Carbon,
Kraft Foods, IKEA, Management Science Associates, McKinsey&Co., Pricewaterhouse Coopers, United Technologies and
Whizbang Labs. He has served on the board of companies and has been a founder of two startups in the internet space.
Career Highlights:
• He is the first recipient of the Rohet Tolani Distinguished Professor of International Business term chair
• He has published over 65 articles in leading marketing, management and statistics journals
• In 2013, he was elected as a Fellow of the Informs Society of Marketing Science (He has also served as president of the
society)
