largest batch

of XLRI joins the

corporate world, an-

other chapter is added

to the institute's

legacy of producing

men and women of

excellence.

On the 59th Convocation of XLRI, an

assiduous batch of 520 students received

graduating certificates and medals. The

batch encompasses 300 students of

Two-year Post Graduate Programmes in

Management - BM and HRM (2013-15);

112 students of 2014 batch of 15-months

PGDM (General Management) Pro-

gramme; two students of Fellow Program

in Management from Jamshedpur Cam-

pus; 63 students of Three-Year [Part-Time]

PGDM-BM Programme 2012–15 batch

and 23 students of Three-Year [Part-Time]

PGDM-BM Programme 2012 – 15 batch

from Dubai Campus; and 20 students of

the Global MBA Programme.

Mallika Srinivasan, Chairman and

CEO, Tractors and Farm Equipment

Limited graced the event. She inspired and

encouraged the graduating batch through

her convocation speech.

Srinivasan stressed on seizing every

opportunity that comes our way, because it

is upto us to shape our future. She accen-

tuated on making ‘I shape me’ the motto

of life.

XLRI, keeping with its 46-year old

tradition, conferred the prestigious Sir

Jehangir Ghandy Medal for Social and In-

dustrial Peace on Srinivasan this year. She

was honoured for her organisation’s firm

focus on designing and developing farm

equipment that meets the requirement of

small farms and is cost effective for Indian

farmers.

Another eminent personality to be hon-

oured with Honorary Fellow Award was

Padma Shri Fr Romuald D'Souza, S.J. He

was the director of XLRI from 1983-89.

His contribution in the field of manage-

ment education in India can be witnessed

in the three institutions he helped to build

and flourish – XLRI, XIMB and GIM, all

of which are considered premier institu-

tions in India today.

Congratulating the students on their

graduation day, TV Narendran, MD,

Tata Steel India and South East Asia, and

Chairman, Board of Governors, XLRI,

said, “There is no substitute for hard work.

The harder you work the luckier you get.”

“XLRI stands for partnering progres-

sive growth of our nation. This institution

epitomises value-based education and

all-round development of individuals. It

is these values that set XLRI apart from

other business schools in the country,” he

further added.
