i am inspired
by the idea of creation of a world
where we do not need to eradicate poverty because
there would'nt be any. The defining characteristic
of such a world is resilience. There are three build-
ing blocks to a resilient community —
one
, a deep
respect for soil, air and water;
two
,
interdependence
– only if the individual inhabitants of the community
practice the tradition of interdependence the com-
munity has a chance of being independent;
three,
a
state where community employs ecologically sus-
tainable means to fulfill their basic requirements.
I find the idea of resilience far more empowering,
liberating and inspiring than eradicating poverty.

80 %
of morbidity in rural india is due to poor
quality of water. The reason behind was abys-
mal attitude towards disposal of human waste.
Human waste finds its way into drinking water,
bathing water, irrigation or any kind of water
one can think of. The biggest challenge for those
working in rural areas is exclusion — exclusion
of women, dalits, tribals, poor and so on. We
believe that water quality can be improved only
when all the individuals of the village/commu-
nity work together.
