and crawling. Utmost care was taken to
ensure the safety of participants.
Kala Samrat
Kala Samrat, a competition to showcase
classical talent, saw participants from dif-
ferent B-schools. A large number of XLRI
students, PGDM and GMP programmes,
also took part in the competition. There
were three categories – song, dance and
playing instruments.
Participating
institutes
Valhalla had some of the best B-school
students as participants at the event. IIM-
Calcutta, IIM-Ranchi, IIM- Raipur, XIMB,
FMS, SIBM and NMIMS among others
gathered at XLRI to celebrate contrasts.
This year's
Footfall
Valhalla 2014 saw a footfall of
over 3,000 people with more than
600 coming from outside the
institute.
The sixth annual Jamshedpur
Run, organised by XLRI as part
of Valhalla 2014, was flagged
off by Padma Shri Premlata
Agarwal, cricketer Saurabh
Tiwary and Youth Affairs, CII
Kolkata, Jagannath Das for
over 1,500 participants.
The mini-marathon, organ-
ised as one of the foremost
events of Valhalla, is an initia-
tive to bring people together for
a common cause. The mara-
thon theme, We can, We Will,
reflects perseverance at the
face of adversity.
Upholding the legacy of
promoting social harmony and
youth empowerment, the Yi
(Young Indians) Network at
XLRI, Jamshedpur, a move-
ment promoted by the Con-
federation of Indian Industry
(CII), conceptualised the mini
marathon in 2010.
The theme, We can, We Will,
springs from XLRI’s longstand-
ing tradition of promoting
socially responsible business
practices. Over the past five
years the marathon has been
conducted to create awareness
for a cause and this year the
motive was to sensitise people
towards the differently abled.
As it is the collective responsi-
bility of each one of us to bring
more smiles in the lives of
everyone.
