Get a dean or an authorized official of your institution to contact our international relations office by sending an email to the Chairperson International Relations of XLRI - Prof. Pingali Venugopal ( pingali@xlri.ac.in ) mentioning their interest.
Each exchange student is assigned with a student from XLRI as a "Buddy". The Buddy system helps the exchange student overcome any initial hiccups he/she might face and settle in the new environment with relevant inputs on courses, facilities etc.
To make your stay comfortable, you will need the following things-
Wardrobe - Bring clothes as per the weather. A suggested list would be casual clothes like T Shirts, at least one set of formals, winter wear and a jacket. Please do remember to pick up a traditional outfit like Saree, Sherwani from India.
Footwear - Bring comfortable walking shoes and formal wear.
Medication - Please carry any prescription for medications that you are undergoing (also obtain the brand name and generic name). Always keep the medication in its original packaging to ease your transit through customs.
Toiletries- Please bring your own toiletries along if you have any allergies or a sensitive skin.
Appliances & Computers - Don't forget to carry your laptop with you. It is suggested that you do not carry any other appliances since they will be bulky.
Students from our partner institutions need not pay any tuition fees at XLRI. Boarding and Lodging charges will be specified at the time of selection and will have to be paid before the term starts by either online money transfer or submitting a demand draft.
Yes. XLRI is a fully residential campus and all the basic hostel facilities are provided.
The easiest way to reach XLRI is to first come to Kolkata, metropolitan city with an International airport. One can then either take a train (4-6hrs) or a direct flight to Jamshedpur airport (1hr) from Kolkata. Please note that there is no direct flight to Jamshedpur from any city other than Kolkata.
The climate is hot and humid from April to September after which it starts getting pleasant and then cold. It is very cold from November to January and one will require sufficient woolens during this period. The period between July-September sees heavy rains in this region.
