but not the placements at XLRI,
where the largest ever first year
batch was placed in a record time of three
and half days.
The recruitment drive for summer place-
ments saw 105 companies participating in
the process and making 336 offers to 303
students. The number of students this year
was up by 26 percent. In 2012 around 282
summer internship offers were made for
240 students.
The summer internship programme is
aimed at bridging the gap between real-life
business practices and classroom lectures.
The time-bound projects assigned in the
company help students understand the
nuances of a workplace. These internship
projects are important as most firms offer
students full-time positions based on the
evaluation of their work during the two
month internship as a pre-placement offer.
