LRI-Xavier
School of
Management won the All India
Council for Technical Educa-
tion (AICTE) - Confederation
of Indian Industries (CII), Best Industry
Linked Institute in Management award.
The award was based on a survey car-
ried across AICTE approved technical insti-
tutes of various streams with the objective
to showcase best practices of industry. A
total of 1,050 AICTE approved institutes
from established engineering, manage-
ment, pharmacy and architecture institutes
participated in the voluntary survey. The
award was presented by Union Minister for
Communications and Information Technol-
ogy Kapil Sibal at the two-day CII Global
University-Industry Congress and 5th
Higher Education Summit. Prof. Prana-
besh Ray, Dean of Academics, received
the award on behalf of XLRI at Delhi on
November 7, 2013.
On receiving the award Director of
XLRI Fr E Abraham S.J. said, “XLRI has
strived to make its curriculum world-class
and deliver it in the most effective man-
ner. It constantly scans the developments
in business and in society and tries to
proactively meet the challenges. XLRI has
always been involved with the industry and
tried not only meeting the current demands,
but goes one step ahead and finds out what
is the next biggest need of the industry and
tries to meet it. Our faculty is also deeply
involved in research and consultancy, while
our students are given ample opportuni-
ties for face- to- face interaction with the
industry. I am extremely happy for all our
XLRI members and congratulate them for
this achievement.”
Award for Director
Director, XLRI, Fr. E Abraham S.J. was
honoured with the title of Education
Evangelist of India 2013 at its first convo-
cation ceremony in New Delhi on Decem-
ber 23.
Education Evangelist of India is a
celebration of passionate education
professionals who have worked tirelessly
for the cause of education in India. Blessed
with the power to conquer, they have
established institutes whose stature has
only grown with time. The initiative first
came as television series on ET NOW and
now it will be seen in the form of a coffee
table book, published by the Times Group
Books.
