Taking a break from their scheduled lec-
tures and unending assignments, students
indulge themselves in activities organised
by XLANC.
The archery competition for the first
year students was received with great
excitement. The teams were required to
include at least one female member. Prize
money of Rs 6,000 and Rs 4,000 was given
to the best marksman and the second-best.
The whole event was conducted under the
guidance of professionals and thorough
safety precautions were taken.
XLANC’s flagship event, Quest Adven-
tura, was a timing-based team event. The
first was a series of obstacles which was
carefully planned so as to test the endur-
ance and stamina of the participants. There
were about 10 obstacles including flying
fox, rope net climbing and river crossing.
The event saw participation from around 20
teams from colleges like IIM Ranchi and
XIMB.
The XLRI team emerged victorious at
the end of an action-packed day. Every
event conducted was watched closely by
experienced professionals and safety of or-
ganisers and students was given paramount
importance.
The club conducted its mega event
Chakravyuh during the institute’s annual
management festival, Ensemble 2013, with
100 students competing in a battle of brain
and brawn to emerge as champions. The
event was spread over two days compris-
ing two stages. The first stage consisted
of strategy games such as Mine Field and
Cross the River. It was a test of team effort
and team-leading abilities of each member
aiming to complete all tasks within the
given time. The top six teams from this
round went ahead to the next challenge,
the Amazing Race where each team had to
first decrypt a set of clues and then interpret
these to take them to subsequent clues. The
team which reached the final destination
and deciphered the clue first was declared
winner and prizes worth Rs 12,000 were up
for grabs.
WALL CLIMBING
Wall climbing available at TSAF was spon-
sored by XLANC for all XLRI students.
Wall climbing that requires foresight,
determination and skill saw 30 enthusi-
asts. TSAF trainers were made available
to help students master the activity and to
guarantee their safety. The committee plans
to organsie more of such events for the
adventure buffs of XLRI.
DOWN THE HILL
Dalma Hills is a picturesque location in the
outskirts of Jamshedpur. It is a photogra-
pher’s paradise and also adventure lovers’
delight. A group of 55 students — including
second year, GMP and some exchange
students — took to the hills with five
guides.
Tiring as it was, difficult as it may have
been yet the students returned from the
day-long trek with lots of fun experiences
and anecdotes to share.
