The first cultural night of the new
year 2018, XL-Utsav organised
by AcadCom, saw two dance
performances organized by
SPICMACAY. The grand evening saw
the Binayak troupe with 17 artists
performing two different stage
shows of the traditional local dance
forms of
Chhau
and
Natwa
. The
stage was indeed honoured with
these traditional, unsung heroes
of art, astounding the audience
with their perfectly choreographed
steps and intricate costumes. Chhau,
performed in its Purulia form, was
an enthralling piece narrating the
story of Goddess Durga through
dance by masked men. Natwa was an
energetic performance, replete with
extremely synchronized beats and
acrobatic moves. Being the local art
form of interior Jharkhand, both the
dance forms left the audience from
different part of India, glued to the
edge of their seats.
Academic year 2017-2018 was
indeed another eventful year for
SPICMACAY, succeeding the mission
to bring Indian Culture one step
closer to the XL Family. In the
coming year, with many events of its
very own kind planned, SPICMACAY
aims to not only engage the youth
of XLRI and Jamshedpur with
awareness of Indian Culture, but also
to actively involve them in various
art forms by providing platforms to
learn and enrich Indian Culture and
Music.
